I couldn’t get much out of Wikipedia, but I’ve been reading Reddit, and one person suggested that Jesus only said to give to the poor and trust in the lord. That He didn’t say that the way to salvation is to worship Jesus; Paul said that, and James and Peter said Paul was full of shit. If Jesus is the physical incarnation of the lord, and people worship that physical incarnation, is that idolatry? I mean, the golden calf was a physical representation of the lord, right? Isn’t Jesus a physical representation too? If Jesus says it’s okay then that’s that, but if it was only Paul saying to worship Jesus rather than just to respect Him as a teacher, then it’s idolatry, right?

It absolutely is idolatry. Jesus didn’t even heal people, from a certain point of view. Almost always he tells them their faith let them heal themselves. Turning it into worshipping Jesus lets people excuse their own actions, as long as they bow to the golden calf.
