I mean the main problem with the hate is that some people will act like jerks and say things they wouldn’t say to anyones faces even it it is attached to their real name right now. I completely agree that legislation would not change a single thing. More likely it would cause people getting doxed more often.
I agree, there is an emotional distance and lack of feedback/consequence that may factor in. I was trying to imagine if a crowded coffee shop in a city made people wear name tags if they would be less inclined to act rudely (e.g, cut lines, hold table spots before ordering, pollute recycle bins, etc) and perhaps it would but I’m not sure how.
