Looking at my Pi-Hole logs, one app is trying hard AF to contact segment.io. The only issue is, it’s my second phone and while most apps are the same as what’s on my first, I tried uninstalling a bunch and it’s still trying desperately. Does anyone know of a way to find out which app is the culprit?
If you’re willing to fork over a few $ for a good app, pick up netguard, pay for the pro features and support the project, then use the filter network traffic feature. Should allow you to narrow it down fairly quickly.
This was going to be my next course of action, but it didn’t get to that. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Tracker control makes it really convenient to turn off internet access for a bunch of apps, perhaps that could speed up the trial and error? Though the tracker blocking functionality might kinda get in the way if it tries to block the segment.io traffic, so you might need to set it up specifically for your needs

It’s an app that pretends to be a VPN so it can filter out network traffic from apps seeking to track the user, but its very easy to to just turn internet off for a given app
You are a marvelous human being. Thank you so much.
Aww, thank you, I’m really glad it was a helpful suggestion!
Best of luck and I hope you have a lovely day ☺️
You can try disabling the apps instead of uninstalling them. Disable everything. And then slowly enable them until you find the culprit
Turns out it was my Bose headphones app.
Might be a system app. Part of the OS…
Wasn’t even something so good. Was just my headphones. I turned off the telemetry options.
Would the app tPacketCapture help?
I looked that up. It seems to be MIA from the Play Store
