I miss the games in the style of “The Magical Quest” for the SNES. Tight platforming, multiple abilities, and good boss fights. Bringing back good licensed content is a win.

Duuuuude! Mickey’s Magical Quest was the first thing I thought of reading the title. A metroidvania of that would be sick! 😁

Disney really knows how to handle their licenced games. Or at least did in the SNES era. Mickey’s Magical Quest, The Lion King, Aladdin, etc… All excellent if not just a tad difficult.

I remember replaying Aladdin on the Genesis over and over growing up. I even have an ancient Let’s Play up on YouTube I made 10 whole years ago already, wow. But Lion King, that’s a tough one. Managed to get to the first adult Simba level, forget which it is exactly, but couldn’t get past that.

        • I remember seeing something about TLK video game a few years ago that mentioned how one of the versions, the “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” level had a slight difference that made it way harder than the other version. Though I don’t remember which version was the hard one; I have a hard time on either version!

I would guess that the harder version is the SNES version, since I played the Genesis version as a kid and remember that level being annoying and confusing but not controller-yeeting hard. Stupid monkeys.

This looks like so much fun! My family loved Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Rayman Legends, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.
