  • There’s a new rumour about a Nintendo Switch 1 exclusive Direct in February, maybe they’ll shadowdrop the remasters for Prime 2 and 3 then!

I think the difficulty is maybe a bit higher in Returns HD? I’m not sure. I’ve only been in one mining cart scene and it was quite stressful but I managed. I always go for the K O N G letters in every stage (not the puzzle pieces though) which makes it harder than just trying to get through it. It has a modern mode which apparently gives you extra lives and can’t remember what else. If it’s there, I use it, I’m not bothered to play on a more difficult setting just for the sake of it, and I don’t have the patience for it anymore. It’s getting harder as I advance, but I would have to go back and play some original DKC to compare it properly.

  • I keep playing Pokémon Omega Ruby here and there. I beat the 8 Gym leaders and am on Victory Road.

I went back to Metroid Prime 2: Echoes on the Game Cube this week. It’s fun, same stuff as the first one so far but with a different story. My left hand has been getting cramps when playing this game for too long, I might have to get a modern controller for Game Cube! 👴

I also started Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on the Switch yesterday. I originally got this game on the Wii, but the forced motion controls made me rage quit. Such an unnecessary gimmick… I am enjoying it now with normal controllers, it’s really fun and it looks great!

I realized I’m playing two games by Retro Studios! At least originally in the case of DKC… Both games have been a bit of a problem for me. When I am playing DKC I think “one more stage and I’m off” and in Metroid it’s “one more save point” and I end up playing for too long 😅

  • Hope you’re feeling better!

I’m still playing Pokémon Omega Ruby on my 3DS. I have 7 gym badges and currently going through the legendary Pokémon arc.

I mentioned playing Mega Man 7 last time, I beat all the initial bosses except for Turbo Man. The stage was really frustrating, I didn’t even reach Turbo Man, so I stopped and will come back to it later. I will probably play other Mega Man titles from the collections on Switch.

  • It makes sense as publicity. Personally I wasn’t aware this brand even existing until now. I bet I’m not the only one.

I think a lot of companies are assuming they know what the succesor of the Switch is based on the leaks. But as I said in a previous post, until Nintendo shows something, it’s all speculation and rumors.

It can also be that Nintendo gave fake prototypes to companies to find out which one is leaking information.

Nintendo could reveal anything, it could be completely different from the Switch (which would be hilarious). I remember the NX times when leaks were coming out here and there, and they were absolutely ridiculous compared to what the Switch actually is. It’s more about being first than being right these days with information 🤷‍♂️

  • I recently started playing Pokémon Omega Ruby on my 3DS. I started it on December 15, 2014, and stopped playing after the second gym. I had finished Pokémon X back when I got it, but it looks like I didn’t want that much more Pokémon or got distracted by something else. I went back to the same save, and I have some Pokémon that have been training with me for over 10 years 😅 I already got 6 gym badges and plan to keep playing. The DS is such a great console. Such a shame to see the Internet related stuff on 3DS games which we can’t officially use anymore. I need to check this out

On the Switch I’ve been playing Yars Rising and Mega Man 7 from the Legacy Collection. Yars is ok so far. Mega Man 7 I played it before but I never finished it, I’ve played the NES ones (and X) more.

  • Super Nintendo is mostly The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 🙈

I played 75 games this year on Switch! It’s interesting to see the diversity when it comes to most played each month. I started with Mario Wonder, had months with beat 'em ups as most played (Streets of Rage 4, Shredder’s Revenge, Double Dragon Gaiden) and others with retro games (Perfect Dark on the Mature N64 being the most played one month).

This end of the year review is pretty cool, but I wish we had stats like we did on the Wii U and 3DS 😥

  • I had a hard time getting into at first. Jason Aaron’s writing is hit or miss for me. I really liked his run on Thor back in the day, I would recommend it to everyone at the time. But his run on Avengers was definitely not for me, I strongly disliked it. I gave it so many chances, but I think there must have been one or at most two issues I enjoyed from that run.

I had my doubts going into TMNT, and I saw some of the same stuff I didn’t like in the first issues. But by issue four I started getting more into it and there was less of the stuff I don’t like or maybe the rest of the story makes it more tolerable. Hopefully I’ll keep enjoying it and I’ll keep my subscription going.
