I saw it in theaters and I though it was great. They went back to the original themes of what Godzilla represents and they did it well. No hollywood godzilla can compare to the power of this Godzilla’s atomic breath.

Movie was great and a different take than anything Hollywood could produce. Really enjoyed how it showed life in Japan those days as the country was modernizing (also some metaphors there).

Watched Shin Godzilla and heard this one is similar, i really love how Godzilla in Shin is portrayed as an unstoppable force of nature instead of just a big kaiju. That firebreath scene is hauntingly beautiful.

Can’t wait to find time for this one though.

The Godzilla’s sheer power was shown very well. I thought the appearance could be a lot better, but I suppose they were paying homage to the original Godzilla. I did miss that guttural reverberation sound from the newer Godzilla movies.

    Watched it twice in theaters.

There was Godzilla Minus One and Godzilla Minus One Minus Color.

    Phenomenal movie.

      Technically 3 versions.

Godzilla Minus One plus Garfield kicked ass.

I sailed the high seas, if that’s an option for you. It only showed up recently, so may be it’s soon to stream.

Rest assured, the seas are calm.

added: And I loved the movie. Agree with your take about the kaiju, it was with reference to the the original 50s movie I believe. Also considering the budget, iirc only uss 13 M, they did a great job. I Liked the solid script and the background story of WWII ( I made a post in Lemmy somewhere too about it).
