    https://1lib.eu/

for free ebooks, as long as it lasts

https://www.gutenberg.org/ should probably also be mentioned in that regard, although it’s only for things that are now in the public domain, wheras 1lib/zlibrary has “everything”

librevox has audio books that are in the public domain that are performed by volunteers.

Lots of other options for ebooks. Two good ones are:

        • libgen.rs
        • b-ok.cc

Good people have made sure many mirrors of sites exist so people always have access to them. Ebooks and scihub are my two favourite things about the internet.

okay, b-ok.cc redicts me to 1lib.eu and libgen.rs I have no access to with HTTPS Everywhere. and to clarify most popular page takes forever.

I feel everyone should be aware of alternativeto.net, in case you need an alternative to any piece of software or an alternative to a website. Like, if you type reddit there, you get this place.

You probably already know about it but uBlock origin. Once you start using an adBlocker, you will never tolerate not having one again.

Some good browser add-ons that I don’t see getting recommended too much:

I have recently started using the Firefox relay extension. It is an extension that lets you create throwaway email addresses that forward to your actual email address. Its really useful if you are signing up to a mail list/service that you think might spam you or sell your email address.

Firefox Multi-Account containers groups websites into separate containers. For example your could have all your google account activity in one container and lemmy in another container. This means that the links you open when browsing lemmy won’t be linked back to your google account with cookies.

I use the Nitter Redirect and Old Reddit Redirect to “fix” links to the two websites. Also, NoScript to “fix” most random links I follow.

I just discovered Multi-Account containers and it blew my mind that before that there was no way at all to be connected to multiple accounts on the same browser.
