A really good perk in Eastern Europe is that the brief period of communism flattened inequality and nationalised all infrastructure, and both have stayed been kept under democracy and capitalism. Which means that those countries now kinda have the best of both worlds. Although with the snowballing of wealth that is inevitable under capitalism (unless regulated), it is a question of if, and not when, that starts to change.
