Crazy that they managed to create and entire anime and several spinoff series from the concept of spinning tops that battle each other. All that just to sell some toys.

Beyblade was kind of unique amongst anime shows of this era that were popular around the world (eg, Pokemon, Digimon) in that the toys were advertised to resemble the same action that occurred in the show - battling spinning tops essentially, whereas in contrast functional pokeballs didn’t exist
