I watched the '90s X-Men animated series as a kid and loved it back then, but when I tried to rewatch it recently I didn’t think it held up very well. The theme song is still amazing, though.

But I watched Silver Surfer for the first time last year and was engaged through the whole thing, so it gets my vote. X-Men Evolution would probably be runner-up, followed closely by Spectacular Spider-Man.

The '67 Spider-Man. The first two seasons are campy fun, and the third (headed by Ralph Bakshi!) gets kinda weird. Also, the theme song is a classic.

    Spider-Man and his amazing friends.

Yeah, I’m fucking old, but it was fun. I miss having superheroes that weren’t so fucking grim all the time, and having my favorite quipster thwipster doing both while animated and two cool sidekicks (heh), and it being happy is a fond memory.

Don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy the grittier stories, even prefer some meat to my fiction. But there’s something to be said for heroes being heroic and friendly in a simple way like the old versions were.
