"Documentaries are a great tool for veganism
The data also highlight how documentaries are crucial in helping to spread the vegan message. Watching vegan documentaries (50.9 percent) topped the list of best methods for encouraging new vegans, ahead of books and articles (20.3 percent), talking to friends (17.1 percent) and family (11.1 percent), and public speakers (10.7 percent).
Felipelli told PBN: “Whether these documentaries have helped you go vegan, motivated a new vegan to carry on their journey, or sparked meaningful conversations with friends about veganism – all of this makes a difference.”

the vegan message
What’s that?
The vegan message is encouraging those who aren’t vegan to try veganism
Why?
Watch Cowspiracy and find out!
So there’s a message, but I can only hear it via a specific medium, with no summary provided. Both a great message, and great messenger, I’m sure… But that’s a little too cult-ey for my tastes.
To stop exploiting animals for their own ends.
I just want to point out that if you truly feel deeply and strongly about your cause, there are two ways you can go about communicating that message.
Impartially, objectively, scientifically, with data to back up your arguements.
Or, yknow, you can be manipulative and play on emotions. As we see here. It’s not even a robust argument or counter. Exploiting how, for whose ends? There is so much nuance to the stance you are trying to take, and you’re not going to change any minds worth changing, without acknowledging that.
Pointing out for the record, I got downvotes, not cogent arguments.
I read somewhere that Veganuary was the most effective “activism”, while street protests where the least effective.
Sucke but capitalism rules
I read somewhere
Was it capitalist propaganda?
street protests where the least effective.
Narrator: it was.
Nah, some actual comparison of the long lasting effect of various protest forms etc.
I didn’t know there was a vegan community on lemmy.ml. Just joined!
Per the article, these data were collected by a vegan and vegetarian dating app company. I’m glad I found out about them too.
I can see why documentaries were voted the most effective means of encouraging people to veganism. Documentaries can blend together so many rational and emotional points from different perspectives that it may be likely that “something sticks.”
