It means just that – the np.reddit.com link shows “1 year ago”, as opposed to reddit.com’s “2 years ago”. As you said, apparently this is because it’s based on old.reddit.com.

Yep, my guess is it’s rounding up to a year differently on the two front-ends. As you can see, their front-pages you posted are identical posts.
