They were headquartered in China for less than a year before they left (five years ago) for regulatory reasons. The founder and CEO was born in China but grew up in Canada. I wouldn’t say they’re “essentially a Chinese company”, and they certainly know what a swastika means.

May that’s just an accident:
the swastika remains a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain countries such as Nepal, India, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, China and Japan. It is also commonly used in Hindu marriage ceremonies and Diwali celebrations.
