Always great when one of these giant mod projects actually makes it to release, so many of them just wither and die mid development.

Your comment prompted me to check in on Skyblivion and surprisingly they actually have a release year planned, finally!

      …2025.

it’s funny, when I first heard about that project, I thought “that’s too ambitious, there’s no way they’ll get it done before the next elder scrolls releases and makes it feel outdated”… but even with a 2025 release date it will STILL release before the next elder scrolls, shits crazy

There’s another mod that I’m really looking forward to called “Tale of Jo, Liz, & A Better World”.

The environmental design in that mod looks absolutely gorgeous.

These projects are just so much work, and most often started by beginning devs. It tracks that a lot of them are over-ambitious with their plans.

That’s a shit ton of hours worked just to line Bethesda’s pockets without compensation. I get that it’s a labor of love, but at this point- they’d be better off creating their own game with that level of skill than wasting it on a shit-tier company that has been releasing the same game since 2002.

in the end however that “shit tier” company is one of the only ones that not only allows modding but encourages it and provides tools for it.

It benefits them of course but the vast majority of AAA games don’t allow for modding and some even go after the modders and threaten legal actions.

Starfield and especially Fallout 76 are bad, but that doesn’t retroactivley make their past games worse.

I think it’s less that the two most recent shitfests have detracted from earlier releases and more that people are finally realising how bad the earlier games really were now that the good spirits have soured. They’re finally seeing how incompetent Bethesda have been all along.

It’s always crazy to see a mod like this where it’s basically a whole new game with the production quality to match. Even this release announcement is pretty impressive for a mod.

That being said, this makes me think: If we can get Fallout London, what about Fallout London, Ontario?

I heard about this several years back, and lost all hype when I heard its based on Fallout 4. Now after seeing this… alright, I’m on board. Just… please… let me shoot a certain PM, responsible for Brexit. Give him the Gary treatment, so I can do it over, and over, and over, again… oh god, he’ll be one of the faction leaders, won’t he? The Nat-C (National Conservatives) party will be the radroaches of the game.

I assume you haven’t played modded FO4 recently, but I genuinely recommend revisiting it. Modded FO4 has come leaps and bounds.

They haven’t really fixed the dialogue design of

        • “yes”
        • “yes but funny”
        • “yes but rude”
        • “no, but actually yes”

Well, they kinda did, but not really at the same time.

Modders haven’t fixed the shitty base game dialogues, but there are frameworks to be able to create dialogue options that are similar to how the older games did it. I think this is the mod. Also if I remember correctly the Fallout London devs have said that they worked together with the XDI dev to integrate it into their mod. I do not know how expansive it’s gonna be tho.

Yeah, I haven’t touched it in ages. It’s sad that you’d need to mod it to make it actually decent. I’ll need to reinstall for this mod, so maybe I’ll give it another chance.

Transformative. Used one of the bigger collections. I think StoryWealth.

It’s not Enderal obviously, and it’s far from perfect, but it reminded me a bit of New Vegas where you opened a manhole cover, and found the Thorn hidden away.

Looks like my next couple hundred Fallout hours will be in a whole new modded world. I didn’t know this existed and now I’m hyped beyond belief.

This might get me to play FO4 again. I played through a few times, but got bored because once you explore the world there isn’t much else to do. F:NV had a story you could get lost in, so I find myself going back to that a lot.
