I don’t think Hamas or Likud would agree, they would both be tried. It would have to be negotiated without them. I know it isn’t realistic, but you asked what it works require for the attacks to stop happening. In the end, though, Israel is responsible for the apartheid system, so unless steps are taken to dismantle that system, there will never be peace. It will need to be Israel’s choice to start and maintain the process.

Who exactly are you going to negotiate with in Gaza if not Hamas? They control the government and the military(militants) at the moment, and have for 15 years.

I know it isn’t realistic This is the problem with every single call for peace. Nobody has a realistic plan that has any chance of working.

Israel gave Gaza a chance, in the early 2000s, withdrew everyone including settlers and military, backed right off, and in retaliation Hamas took power and started attacking immediately at which point Israel locked it all down harder.

Why the hell should Israel be the one to back off first this time? If Israel do back off, and Hamas attacks again, would then Israel have justification crushing them? Or is Israel just supposed to allow attacks with no repercussions until it’s “even”?
