Yeah they are nothing special, just designating this as a bicycle through lane, which keeps priority on the bicycles, instead of a car priority “bicycles dismount” style.
Yep! It’s a good article from the CBC. I think they explain it well. As a cyclist, it’s good to get this information out in the wild for people who aren’t aware. I’ve been almost hit by enough cars 😅

Just like pedestrians, cyclists should stop and look both ways to ensure the road is clear or cars have stopped before crossing.
