I’m blatantly borrowing an idea I saw in the Montreal community…
Would anyone be interested in a virtual book club featuring books set in Halifax, or perhaps the Maritimes more broadly? A thread could be opened and run for a set time (maybe a month), after which a new book would be chosen.
A couple of possibilities off the top of my head. Both are available through HPL and the Libby app.
- Butter, Honey, Pig, Bread by Francesca Ekwuyasi (partially set in Halifax)
- Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald (mostly set in CB)
If a few folks are interested, I would be happy to facilitate the first thread and come up with some discussion questions. 😄
I’ve been reading more this year than I have in forever (treating audiobooks as reading has made all the difference). I struggle to get into fiction, so I’d definitely be down for a group to force me to read made up stories, haha
That’d be pretty cool. Will add the obvious Barometer Rising by Hugh MacLellan (I liked it, and not just because Eastern Passage got a passing mention that excited me)
