The federal government is rejecting a proposal from Alberta to consider adding a ‘unique chemical identifier’ to the pharmaceuticals offered as an alternative to street drugs.
I mean, it’s not a bad idea to pair opening safe-consumption sites with a plan to address the use and especially the resale of drugs outside of the SCS system. A lot of the problems around drugs have to do with economics: people steal for drugs, trade sex for drugs and, in the case of SCS supplies, do indeed turn to dealing safe drugs and use the profits to buy meth or fentanyl.
Take away the economics of the drug trade, and you cut out almost all the misery it generates.
But Smith is just so disingenuous about it all…
