The different treatment of Ukrainian and Palestinian refugees exposes a clear double standard. The Trudeau government’s response to Ukraine was swift and comprehensive. There was no cap on how many could apply and they did not need to have Canadian relatives. Ottawa eventually received 1,189,320 applications from Ukrainians and approved 936,293, with 210,178 arriving in Canada.

    In both cases a smaller weaker nation has been on the receiving end of military aggression. In both cases civilians were displaced causing them to become refugees.

      There are people in Gaza who participated in the massacre that included Canadian citizens. The vetting of ANY would be refugee from Gaza must be strict. It will take a while.

Some 640,000 children had lost their homes after they were either partially or totally destroyed, leaving them homeless.

        In addition, the future of hundreds of thousands of children is still unknown, as 217 schools in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed during the Israeli attacks, severely affecting the education process in the Strip.

          We need to heavily vet any would be Gaza refugees for connections to Hamas and Iranian terrorist groups. Getting children out is a challenge because the Hamas terrorists won’t allow them out. What we need is for Hamas to surrender to international authorities to face punishment and allow innocent civilians and all other hostages to receive help. The Netanyahu regime is shit and so is Hamas.

                    According to a paper published by NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence, the strategic use of human shields by groups like Hamas hinges on exploiting Israel’s aim to minimize civilian casualties and the sensitivity of Western public opinion. This tactic allows Hamas to either accuse Israel of war crimes if civilian casualties occur or to protect its assets and continue operations if the IDF limits its military response.
