That’s the cleanest, healthiest looking destitute alcoholic I’ve ever seen … I should know because I’m a recovering alcoholic.
That guy should look like a lifeless husk of a human that makes you question if he is still alive or not and he should be covered in his own vomit and urine and alcohol of various kinds.
Yes I have … the image provided attempted to show a down and out alcoholic sitting next to garbage … I’ve seen alcoholics like that and it is a far scarier and disturbing image that this shows.
Conversely, yes … I’ve met many other types of alcoholics … down and out types living in squalor, near destitute types who are living day to day to survive, those on the edge of falling apart and those professionals and functioning alcoholics that work as doctors, dentists, administrators, professionals who look perfectly normal on the outside but are barely holding it together on the inside. It’s a scary thought because the doctor or dentist or hygienist you see every year may be smiling and happy when you talk to them but they could just be hanging on by a thread.
It’s a frightening thought when you think that some of these people could be held with high responsibilities like conducting surgery, cleaning your teeth with sharp instruments, flying an airplane or managing the water system in your town … and they could just fall apart at any minute because they are dealing with a crippling addiction.

If you don’t have other people’s shit on you are even a true alcoholic?
Realistically, socially, psychologically, spiritually and metaphorically … yes
I don’t think you’ve met many alcoholics.

Yes, and I’ve also seen much cleaner, healthier-looking alcoholics.
