Actually, that was my in-laws today. Since I have major food smell issues, I only went into my wife’s aunt’s garage after they had Thanksgiving lunch (I hung out at my old alma mater’s student union building in a comfy chair in a lounge next to a fireplace) and everyone came up to me and hugged me. Which made me feel super awkward because it was like a hug line. Thankfully, my daughter was very insistent upon leaving right after I got there, so I didn’t have to stay and deal with that for long.
Attending a Thanksgiving Dinner / Christmas Dinner / Wedding Dinner / Funeral Gathering of a family that you have a very small connection to.

It’s nice to feel wanted … even if it’s a herd of zombies or your in-laws.
I’m happy for you and I wouldn’t have minded jumping into that hugline myself … even if you tried to beat me away with a stick.
Now now, we still respect consent in the hug line.
(Arms outstretched) … Awwwwww come here you … I SAID COME HERE!!!
It was nice of them, but I am not used to it. It’s because they know we’re emigrating.
