I’ve tried to stay really unclear on the source for the movies we share here, intentionally. My goal though is to keep the community going and not get any Lemmy / Piefed server instance in trouble with any copyright authority. If we can keep doing that, I’m good. The initial model was just as crimeschnecke said: Someone else uploads a movie to YT, we share it here, we watch it. Some of those sites you mentioned, klu9, seem more like they post tons and tons of movies they got from “somewhere” and that could easily be a problem, imo. Open to others’ ideas on this, for sure.
