I expect to see it as one of the bargaining chips on the table during the upcoming Canada/US trade re-negotiations.

in reality Canada is simply making itself more dependent on the US.
And doing so in a relatively carefully manner so as not to hurt ourselves unnecessarily.
Because we know they’ll pay it one way or another
Unless Trump manages to succeed in completely collapsing their economy. (Whether intentionally or due to incompetence)
First question is, massive sell off to whom?
Any bonds that are at their due date are required to be paid out by the US treasury.
Most holders of US bonds have a revolving collection of them, so some are coming due on a regular and continual basis.
Admittedly, that’s not a mass sell-off, but it still puts pressure on the US if everyone starts doing it .
Dunno, they don’t operate in my country.
And from the little I know of them, that’s a good thing.
I hope this is the first of many.
And that things like this happen across the country.

Once again, happy to be in Manitoba.
Maybe people realized that pizza crusts dripping in oil isn’t very good?
I wasn’t aware that pizza hut was even still in business.
I haven’t seen one that is still open in years.
Most despicable so far…
beacon of democracy? when was that?
They should have put that phrase in quotation marks.
Just because the US calls themselves that doesn’t make it true.
I am Pentium of Borg.
You will be approximated.
I don’t care if it’s an ancient reference.
To fit knoppix into this, I would need to back the windows exit date off by a decade or so.

Canada•Canada doesn’t rule out military role in Iran war as Carney shifts his position on conflictEnglish
3·6 days agoIt’s more likely biased interpretations of his intentionally politically phrased language.
Pulling DND personnel out of the area speaks more about the truth of the matter.
And Carney’s subsequent statements do clarify that Canada won’t be joining the US and Israel in their offensive.
But that we might join the defence of an ally if they get attacked and if there is a NATO involvement in that defensive action.
Those positions are very much different that what some commentators are suggesting.
Metal: definately.
Metal has been commonly recycled since the days of the village blacksmith.
There is a commercial buyer of scrap metal in every city of any significant size, and has been for longer than the word “recycling” has been in daily use by the general public.
Paper and cardboard are also properly recyclable. However it’s not often economical to do so depending on shipping distances (AKA costs) to a facility that can process it.
And all I’ve got to do is act naturally…
And how did Trump winning the election improve the situation for the Palestinians?
Maybe the survivors can become staff at Trump’s west bank resort.

No, I don’t think anything the Americans do with regard to trade negotiations will be done with sincerity. (Or honesty. Or in the interest of collaboration. )
But that doesn’t mean Canada doesn’t have some powerful cards that we can play. (Such as the return of the DST)
