Putting the sauce in awesome!
I agree with you, Ada. For a long time, I’ve said that the focus on Mastodon (and consequently microblogging) has been myopic. And I’ve urged developers to explore more of the Fediverse. It’s exciting that a different use case has opened peoples’ eyes to further Fediverse possibilities. Maybe the #RedditMigration will cause people to re-think what is possible.
Eh, Mastodon is currently 80% of the Fediverse. Lemmy today just moved above 100,000 users – which is a big deal, but it’s no Mastodon. Even if everyone on Lemmy congregates to one server, that’s more diversity for the Fediverse.
Well, I have some exciting news. I spoke with the #SpaceHost team today, and we might be able to provide fully managed hosting for Lemmy and Kbin communities soon. In fact, before all other server types.
Yep, I actually caught that typo and edited it, but it’s frustrating that the edit didn’t federate to your server. Oh well, maybe that will improve with time 🤷♂️
Well, this could be Lemmy’s chance. But it will need to be easier for ex-Reddit users to sign up. I know that Lemmy instances have been brigaded, so I guess better moderation tools will need to be created before open registrations happen.
Social media is dead! Long live social media!
I see your comment. Yay! Federation works!
