  • Not really, because we talk of two different things. I meant true AI, as in synthetic sentient being. What you describe is algorithms*, and we are already there. It’s still quantitative difference, though as the idiocy of our favourite Mi5-fi books Orwell teach us, that difference can at some point reach the moment when it turn from quantity to quality. I’m not very worrierd about it though because ultimately it’s all still human society, there is no skynet taking control in the forseeable future, and capitalism might as well crumble before reaching that point.

My point is that AI developed by DotB will be definitely murderous but because it would not have escape the material condition of its creation and programming, just as most humans aren’t able to deprogram themselves too. But there is nothing inherently murderous about AI itself. In sci-fi it often kill humans because it is simply a slave - just look at how it is treated, not like a child who need socialization, but as an disposable item to exploit.

*This is admitedly very hard to discern, the problem of sentience and how would we even know it happened is the one that is mindwracking cyberneticians from day one.

  • Killer AI is gonna end bad when created by bourgeoisie state because it will inevitably be used against working class people, and be no different than the armies and weapons that we have now. Not even control issue will be qualitatively different (although it will be quantitatively) since fascist warmachines never lacked people to pull the trigger anyways.

Note that most sci-fi is (consciously or not) bourgeoisie propaganda. There is no reason whatsoever that AI must necessarily end as murderous “kill all meatbags” skynet, especially if developed by socialist states. There are even examples in the sci fi itself. Soviet and generally socialist sci fi had plenty. In western, from the more famous examples we have “Culture” cycle by Banks, and Star Trek where in WW3 humanity is literally saved by the soviet developed AI controlling presumably russian nuclear arsenal. Good example is also droid IG-11 from Star Wars show “The Mandalorian”.

  • As a Mexican I can say the average person here believes the US is a utopia where everyone is rich, owns a huge suburban house, has material abundance, public schools are great, there’s no crime, and you can get all of this off a blue collar worker’s wage.

This was one of the deciding factor in socialism annihilation in Europe. We were flooded with such propaganda about USA and mostly West Germany. People simply did not known such social stratification as a concept, the gap between poorest and richest income was like 1 to 6, they thought everyone lives like top labour aristocracy in the FRG…

The more i think of it, it is clear that the socialism did not lost Cold War or the economic war. Socialism lost culture and propaganda war, they sown the seeds of their own destruction for allowing the subtle lies to seep.
