Because Josh McDaniels is a good OC that can put a decent scheme together.
He’s an absolutely awful HC, but technically as a playcaller and scheme designer he is at least decent.

I could see them signing Mike Williams. We are likely going to cut him to save on cap room. He’s balled out against them a ton so I could see them trying to get him.
The problem for Staley is that Kellen Moore is in the building and has long been tipped as a HC candidate (but before he left the Cowboys Jerry Jones refused to let him out).
That reality makes this probably much quicker for the Chargers to pull the trigger.
And before everyone calls the Chargers cheap or whatever, Staley only has 1 year left on his contract, they fired both Antony Lynn and Mike McCoy when they had a year left on their contracts.
I don’t agree with kicking and punt returns being “luck”. We spent a 4th round pick on a specialist returner and he broke off a 60 yard punt return against the Jets. That isn’t really luck…
I think we’ve had a lead in 8 out of our 9 games with under 4 minutes to play this season.
We’re 4-5.
I feel like people are trying to math a way to the Rams losing this trade. They won a Super Bowl, they won the trade. The Lions also won the trade.
I wonder which fans would do the best in these fights. Probably not Raiders fans I guess since they don’t want to risk violating parole.
I think you could make an argument that Garrett was the 2nd best first overall in the last 10 years.
He’s definitely better than:
Eric Fisher
Jadaveon Clowney
Jameis Winston
Jared Goff
Baker Mayfield
Kyler Murray
Travon Walker
Then TLaw I think is debatable because I don’t think we’ve reached his full potential (plus QB is more valuable). Bryce Young is too early but it doesn’t look good.
Burrow is obviously the best in the last 10 years.
Yes, at various points it looked like Burrow over Herbert was an error and that Tua would be a bust. All three have gone on to be top level QBs.
Allen looked terrible until his 3rd season. Hurts was poor to start with too.
Kind of hate that tbh. I know it’s a great story and of course I love that he’s back, but he’s played 18 snaps on ST this year, 9 of which were on kickoff coverage and were touchbacks.
So he’s played 9 snaps where stuff actually happened and he hasn’t made a tackle. Just one game active.
I know I sound like an asshole or whatever, but it should go to someone who is at least playing to some extent. Tua would be my pick.
He’s looked a lot better the last couple of weeks, but he was literally one of the worst QBs in the league for his first 4 games:
Week 1: 14-31 / 82 yards / 0 TD / 0 INT
Week 2: 27-41 / 222 yards / 2 TD / 1 INT
Week 3: 26-49 / 259 yards / 0 TD / 1 INT
Week 4: 20-30 / 165 yards / 0 TD / 0 INT
He was also pretty poor against the Seahawks in Week 6 too. He’d have to play absolutely lights out to make up for the hole he dug himself imo, and even then would need Lamar to drop off.
If any of you are gamblers I think Herbert at +15000 is outrageous value.
He should get the splint off his finger next week and I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes on a tear down the stretch.
Now is it likely that he does enough to prove himself as MVP? No, but in a weak year I think the odds are a lot more likely than +15000.
It’s still a horrible pick. Montgomery is the lead back there and balling out - showing exactly why you don’t take a high pick RB.
Gibbs is earning $4m a year more than Montgomery and cost a 1st round pick as opposed to nothing.
