  • Just like 50x100’s are usually more like 40x90’s, or something even more insane - 39x86? Like I’m sorry, but the unit of measurement is NOT the problem, it’s the centuries old “traditions” and “standards” to normalize dimensional lumber that are the problem.

At any rate, one should look at the names of boards as the ratio of their dimensions and leave the inches and mm out of it and it starts to make more sense.

  • You get to be one of todays lucky 10 thousand!

It’s one of those holdover things a good number internet old webcomics do, including the linked XKCD. It’s one of those things that’s effortless with your traditional mouse-keyboard desktop setup, because you hover your mouse and magically the alt-text appears without having to really find it. But for new users in the touch screen era? As you say, yeah, definitely obtuse. :)

  • Pictures don’t show enough but I bet that bridge behind the truck likely had a big hole on the edge of it instead of a smooth ramp (as I’ve seen too often) and driver was probably flying along because road itself wasn’t in bad shape in this section. When you got that pothole, one edge is square and will have no give.

This is just some unlucky sod being highlighted but the real problem is when a village is being detoured, our government and industry fight over jurisdiction for maintenance of said roads. Fucking sad it goes like this.

  • I don’t generally watch the entirety of their shows, but Colbert and a few of these guys generally have maintained a good “roast whatever the fuck the stupid orange asshole was doing”. Colbert and Seth Meyers were my favorites to watch on Youtube as they called out the absurdity of the day.

YOU might not have liked his humor or whatever, but the people that tune into CBS at whatever hour-o’clock need this perspective.

Dollars to donut’s they fill this space with cop-aganda shows or some bullshit. Society will be worse off. And if other networks follow suit, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  • In mid-April 2022, Kaur gave Javier a two-month notice to end tenancy for landlord’s use of the property. The eviction notice indicated that she would be moving into the home with her partner and children. According to the decision, Javier moved out on June 1 and Kaur began renovating the property. Then, in late September 2022, Kaur sent Javier a series of text messages that is partly reproduced in Justice Matthew Taylor’s decision, as follows:

“Hi how are you doing Are you looking for rent the house? We fully renovated and extended the house with 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. Let me know if you are still interested I was like I can ask you first. But this time will be $5,000 rent. It’s with AC unit and fireplace everything brand new. If you want you can come look at it. Am putting on rent add in this week. So just telling you advance."

Easiest $30k you could ever make, but sadly this landlord just banks it all back in 6 months (if they find a new renter).
