  • AP grew between the Jets and Dolphins. He challenged at the perfect time, and he still has the locker room. The fact we kept it close yesterday is good enough for me to promote him and Champ to permanent roles.

Going forward, if we keep this level of play through the end of the season, AP and Champ need the promotions, then they need to get a true OC. Hardegree is ok, but yesterday showed he isn’t quite cut out to take on a real competitive team.

We need to draft a QB. AOC would make for a dependable backup and unless he starts looking like a future elite QB starting next week, we just can’t take the risk of not snagging a 1st round prospect. I want to get a top 10 QB asap as to not let our defense go to waste.

Finally, we need to upgrade our Oline. Getting a mid-to-top tier rookie QB isn’t any good if they have to scramble and check down every play. We need to be a vertical threat again in order to open up the run game, in turn elevating our offense inherently.

At the end of the day, it’s up to Mark, and we’re going to see a lot of media BS about prospective coaches since he has to interview people, but I hope he sees the difference AP and Kelly have made overnight. He can’t sleep on them in order to waste another huge contract for a more-than-likely bust of a coach. Give AP and Kelly a prove it year. IMO, worst case is that we’re middle of the pack next year again and then he should entertain an outside hire for those positions

  • It feels like this sub is wanting to go back into depression mode, but everyone this entire time has been saying a close game is all we were looking for. That’s what we got. All said and done, we played decently well against a really good offense.

If we had capitalized on the turnovers, we could’ve won 21-20, but still, we held them to 20 when they average 30/game. I would’ve loved to see Jacobs explode more, but Miami’s D was definitely ready for us.

At the end of the day, I’m ready to see how we take on KC at home. We stand a pretty good chance to win that one and go into the bye 6-6 and feeling pretty good

  • It’s just too early to tell imo

Projecting a rookie QB’s career trajectory after 4 starts, one of which he was doomed to fail because of his coaches, is a bit premature.

I agree with everyone saying “draft a QB”, but AOC still has time to prove his potential. He could develop into a good middle of the pack QB, or he could be a career backup, we just don’t know until we know

  • Put in any other offense we’ve had in the last two years, we lose. Put in any defense we’ve had in the last 20, we lose. Take away our great special teams play, we most likely wouldn’t have been in the lead at the end. We won because the entire team came out to play. I don’t care if it was against another mediocre-at-best offense. That D was no joke and we put up 16 points and held them to 12.

This team has wrinkles to iron out but they have the heart and the passion we’ve been lacking for 20 years. Really anything could happen from here on out. I’m just glad AOC is proving he is at the very least serviceable. He is aware that he needs to make quicker decisions and get the ball out faster. I hope he learns to scramble a bit better and not let pressure get to him. If AOC is still our QB1 in a year or two, we could have a top 15 offense and defense
