the unspoken (hell, sometimes spoken) assumption is that China would be doing a lot better with a Western-style neoliberal economy, which is an extremely funny assertion when all these economies are doing even worse than China is

if this dogshit blind ideologically poisoned take were even remotely accurate we’d have seen India, Russia, etc making gains against poverty that China has. Instead, woops.

My understanding is that literally almost all global gains against poverty have come from China, you know the gains against poverty neoliberals like to attribute to neoliberalism?? Haha it’s all been in China. China actually plans and builds infrastructure for people to use and live in. Remember all the articles about Chinese ghost cities, with the implication being that China was building a bunch of useless buildings to juice their GDP? Yeah people live in those now.

Something like 95% home ownership? Etc etc etc etc.

  • here’s the kicker: i have 7 years of work experience, yet apparentely no job is hiring even though no one wants to work or whatever

what if you like bake some stuff and take it to a farmer’s market or something tho like yeah it’s not being employed but you’d still be A Baker

i’m sure you can do this, comrade. first day can be rough, but you’ll get better at it!

yeah I already had my first day following the sous chef around but I had no sleep and my perception of everything is “this is a lot of shit to manage” because I’m going to have to keep track of like 10 different things and make sure we don’t run out but also not make too much and like I just don’t think I’m suited for an environment where I’m doing one thing but have to pay attention to people coming back and yelling “we’re out of this shit.” I got ADHD and shit, this is going to be hard :(

and idk if it’s even going to be worth it because they refused to give my friend the wage I want to ask for and she has 15 years of experience and like the level of work compared to what I do now (which is just make the pizza) is making me have second thoughts about it

  • get really good at baking bread in your free time and start shilling that bread to your friends and family and you can call yourself a baker

im finding a lot of joy in working at a lunch buffet

I’ve been enjoying makin’ da pizza at a university dining hall but I’m going to be cooking in the kitchen this week and I kinda regret this decision already. I’m worried my brain isn’t equipped to handle all the different things I’m going to have to keep track of at once…
