  • I would agree with you if showing up to vote was as simple as just showing up. I’d wager that the majority of people who could safely vote, did. There are many reasons why voters can’t be the sole scapegoat here.

One of the biggest reasons— Voting isn’t safe for everyone.

How would you feel about going to vote if you heard there’s been bomb threats and “private security” turning away people at your polling place? Mail-in ballot you say? Okay sure, but have you heard of poison postcards? What about all the data from after the election that shows how many ballots were unjustly thrown out or went uncounted due to some other form of voter suppression? I voted but have no way of realistically knowing if my vote was counted or altered.

I don’t think voters are the main reason the US is in its current position. Let’s set aside the blame game and look at the people who are truly responsible— the current administration and especially those who fund it. Let’s hold them responsible first.

I linked the website of a nonpartisan project that’s looking at the 2024 election data for fraud. They’ve got a hand re-count lawsuit in progress for Rockland County, NY right now.

We have to educate ourselves and each other since the current administration has made it clear that they’re opposed to education and critical thinking skills. There are many of us and together our voices and actions are loud enough to take this country back.

  • I agree with most of what you said. I didn’t say that peaceful protesting was the most effective method or that the fascists would care about signs. The connotation of the above comment is why I called it rage bait. There are ways to express an idea without baiting an emotional reaction.

As for peaceful protests being ineffective, revolutions can’t be successful from one single type of protest or action. The point is that people are speaking their voice as is their right and they’re showing up in numbers. We can work together without having perfectly aligned ideals. Reduce the divisive noise amongst ourselves and let’s work together to save this country’s people.

  • Highly recommend a couple of my favs for queers in game:

Stardew valley - community based farming/dating sim. Cute pixel graphics and plenty to do. Date whoever ya want! Great mod community with lots of queer friendly ones you can add if you want extra spice and play on pc.

Citizen Sleeper, Citizen Sleeper 2 - space rpg with interesting dice mechanic for actions and cute character art. However protag is nb given they have a robot bod, lots of queers throughout both games though.

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist - same sort of space rpg gameplay as Citizen Sleeper except you have full freedom to customize your protag’s gender, name & pronouns and some basic appearance choices. Could be argued this is a coming of age game directed more toward teens exploring identity and queer themes, but I’ve enjoyed it a lot as an adult and replayed it several time since there are multiple endings. (This one blew my mind with how specific you can customize preferred pronouns used throughout the game)

->Tavern Talk - this one is on my list, but not yet played - listed on steam as a visual novel but again full of queer folk! Queer friendly bar scene and more cute character art.

Smol list, but I hope one of these might be what you’re looking for!
