Hello all! I was thinking about games I enjoyed so much when I played them that I still think about them nearly weekly and I was curious what games had that effect on you. For me those two games where:

  • Disco Elysium, for it’s unique gameplay, excellent vibe, and incredible story telling.
  • Stray, for it’s beautiful world, relaxing aesthetic, and insane polish / attention to detail.

I beat each of these over two years ago, and I’m still obsessing over how much I liked them. It took so much effort for summarize my love for those two games into two sentences. If you haven’t checked them out, you should!

    Halo CE.

Dating myself, but man I played the ever loving shit out of that game, and to this day it is still probably my favorite shooter I’ve ever played

Portal 2, Firewatch, Titan Station, Replika and Pony Island. All intriguing stories that get stuck in your head.

    • Dreamfall for the story. I own Chapters but still haven’t gotten to it… I’m so worried about being let down.
    • Starsiege: Tribes, any time I think of a multiplayer shooter. I played the hell out of Renegades mods.
    • Alien vs Predator 2 (multiplayer), nothing has come close to the sheer joy provided by wall walking + pounce as an Alien.
    • Neverwinter Nights, as it was the only game where I was invested in the people I played with (guild, persistent world server and all that). I wish I could track down some people from those days and see what they’ve been up to. Also, Bastions of War was amazing.

Definitely firewatch. The story wasn’t the strongest but the environment was so nice.

Yes it was. Had the firewatch theme on my PS4 and that soundtrack was so calming and relaxing.

It would have made so much more sense for the first act of the game being you and Jackie building your reputations. It also would have been the perfect time to have all those filler side quests, so then the time crunch the game says you’re under really would have felt like one.

And can you imagine the gut punch it would have been if Jackie died AFTER you’d spent hours really getting to know him and his mom and girlfriend?

Not unexpected answers but both Last of Us and Last of Us 2 are stories that stick with you
