Hi all. I’ve been having some trouble as of late with myself and my identity and I’m hoping to find someone else who just “gets it”.

Like, I’m a heteroromantic demisexual, and it’s a bit of a pain because even with my friends being as wonderful as they are, it just feels like nobody quite understands where I’m coming from at times.

Like it feels like I’m too straight to be in the LGBT community because I’m heteroromantic, that I’m too queer to be understood by straight peeps, and that I’m too sexually interested to relate with the ace community.

I’d love to chat with people who can relate to my experiences, but finding other people who are demi, whether it be online or in person, just seems to be a pain. Communities I have been able to find tend to be fairly dead, and browsing general LGBT chat groups online tend to have people that are fairly younger than I am, and I’d rather be around people closer to my own age.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions given. I just really need people to connect and relate with on things.

    Do you suppose you may be unintentionally missing other demi folks by specifically looking for those that already know themselves to be demi?

    Tbh I had to look it up to understand what it meant, but if my brief read on it isn’t too far off, I feel like there may be a fair amount of people that relate without being aware of the terminology. Maybe relaxing the scope of what you’re looking for, to those that may not identify as demi but seem to approach relationships/people similarly may help?

    As far as I know, demi is what I am. I like asexual spaces, only shitty people will say anything about not being some “actual asexual”. It’s a spectrum, and it can be fluid.

      Nobody’s said that to me thankfully, but with the ace people I know already, I feel I can’t fully relate with them when it comes to discussing relationships and all. I’m aware it’s a spectrum, but I haven’t been able to find too many people on the end I’m at.

        Sure. I don’t mind dms but sometimes it can take me a bit of time to reply, as I like to keep some “off internet” time for myself.
