Hello.
I am looking for a way to transfer files between my work laptop (Windows 11) and my home computer (Windows 10) and/or my home server (Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS). Many times I have a file on my laptop I’ll need to work on using my home computer or server.
The catch is that my work laptop is locked down HARD. Can’t install anything at all. Can’t activate any network discovery or sharing. Can’t access remote shares not already approved. Can’t change any settings which are significant in any way, and I.T. will provide no exceptions. I can’t even get approval to install the driver for my home printer so I can print work documents on my home printer. I partly empathize with why they do it of course, but it still is irritating. :)
I don’t need to transfer files through the Internet - only through my local LAN at home. Emailing them to myself, or uploading to the cloud to then download them from the cloud one foot over is slow and annoying. So I’m wondering if there are any other options?
Thank you.
Can’t even mount a USB flash drive or SD card?
If you can’t use any removable storage, then a web-based cloud or p2p service might be the only way.
How about magic wormhole? You could self-host that on your server. Unless the work PC bans outright drag 'n drop file uploads to a web page …
