and it’s not very close either; all other subs are at least over 100k. not that it matters. if anything, it just makes me like being a Raiders fan even more. but yeah, just thought that was a funny observation.
Oakland Raiders is still out there. They have 56.1K members. If they closed shop and moved over here, we’d have 140K or so.
To be honest I don’t ever remember the old Oakland Raiders subreddit having that many members either, we aren’t represented well on Reddit like we are on other social media
Relevancy can fix it, 2 playoff seasons in 20 years isn’t great for creating new fans
The issue is if you have a different opinion you get downvoted and whined to all day. Most people on this sub i hate to have to watch a game with in all honesty
Yeah it’s all just a function of the franchise being so miserably unsuccessful for 20+ years, tons of dysfunction with tons of coaching changes, bad drafts and trades/signings more often than good ones etc. Hard to have an engaged fanbase given that and leaves a lot of what is engaging online hostile and toxic, especially once losses start piling up again a given season. Just not really worth it, I read some and post little and otherwise just watch the games and don’t bother with fellow fans online much these days. Mostly skim here for news, injury updates etc. since I’m an east coast fan so no local media coverage here and just what bits end up in The Athletic.
Is that why there’s so many brain dead takes on here ?
Sub is growing a ton since the firing of JMD and a few primetime wins. The amount of new members joining correlates with our relevancy basically, like when we made the playoffs a couple years ago we started gaining a ton of new members in a short time.
Just like a couples weeks ago we were at 80k, now it seems we’ll be at 85k pretty soon.
The funniest shit was people trying to gate keep the Raiders when they made the playoffs and calling people bandwagon fans. I mean true, but I kept thinking “they gon’ learn.” Then McDumbBitch got hired and well the rest is history. If people became fans after McDoofus’ firing, then I think they have the Raider mentality quite fine.
