Considering all things (cap availability, dead cap, players who aren’t expected to resign, expected roster) do you think we’re in a good position to come back next year and be a playoff contender. Considering how much we’re playing Jimmy and Chandler, I don’t love the position but am still hopeful. Would love to hear some thoughts.

Can’t really think that far ahead with so many unknowns. Still have plenty of season left to figure out who’s gonna be here and who’s not (this includes coaching and FO). Without those locked up\decided on hard to say anything. Right now I’m having fun watching someone QB prospects and watching team week to week.

We need to figure out what kind of QB O’Connell can be. Each week the picture gets clearer.

Take advantage of this time to not have to go to the playoffs, necessarily.

My hunch is we need a greater physical talent at QB. But we aren’t there yet.

Besides those two contracts, we are in a very good situation of building through the draft. I hope Champ Kelly can continue to keep that system, and continue to draft. We are definitely closer on being a defense team. Id rather keep teams under 20 points than a high point team, like the Steelers, Browns, Seahawks 49ers, Jets. Thats how the dynasty teams are. They have an elite QB but forsure a good defense. We getting there.

We need to start hitting early draft picks if we want I make a big jump. Something we haven’t done recently.

It all depends on the QB and HC. I don’t think we’re contending with the former. And the latter might want to do another roster tear down

If we get a first round qb who can hit the ground running, then we’re definitely in good shape to capitalize on his rookie contract window. That’s a big if though

I wouldn’t count Chandler tbh, he’s done enough public hating on the team to count as detrimental conduct and since he didn’t play a single snap I think the team has a good shot to get this seasons money back, and next seasons, just takes time through litigation to get back.

I doubt this would be popular but I would be trading anybody we can for draft picks. I would start by rebuilding the offensive and defensive lines. Then work on the secondary and then when most of the team is set, move up and trade whatever we have to for a big qb prospect. I would want to build this team for the future to compete for division crowns on what is hopefully the downturn of mahomes career in his 30s instead of trying to hope for a wild card spot.

I’d rather build the team up first and then get the QB instead of getting a rookie qb and throwing him into the fire of a poor roster. If we get a qb first before addressing the rest of the holes we will waste the qb rookie contract instead of vice versa
