Same. I admit I didn’t even look too closely at the other candidates because it just wasn’t worth the risk. We really need proportional representation. :/

Do you mean instant run off ballots? I don’t see how you would have proportional representation municipally. (For mayor or counsellors considering neither are party affiliated)

I understand that there are various ranked voting sort of systems, but haven’t read the latest to be able to choose one. But even some solution to the districts. E.g. my father is in an area that just always goes conservative (in this case Bailao) and his vote never has any impact. There must be better systems.

when we vote for mayor its a direct vote. so doesn’t matter if your ward goes “conservative” the vote will still count just as much as anyone else’s. we don’t use First past the post for mayoral elections thankfully.

For counselors because we do not have party affiliation at a municipal level so having proportional representation would be impossible as there is no way to count a vote for say Matlow (if he lost st pauls) to Brown as proportional seat for progressives.

on a provincial and federal level i 100% agree with you.

Really? Wow, consider me educated then. I was confused because CTV election tracker coloured and tracked votes by district which made me think it worked like provincial and federal votes. Very interesting, the news orgs can do better representing the data.

Doug Ford said it’s too complicated for London to do it so he banned cities from using them.
