    Wasn’t the Wii U backwards compatible as well? That and the name didn’t seem to help it at all.

      The Wii was a dying console when the Wii U was released. Once Nintendo made enough Wiis for people to get their Wii Sports fix, sales plummeted. There were some really good games made for the Wii in the second half of its life…but they didn’t sell that well. (At least this is what I remember)
