    That take is ignorant of psychology, sociology, and history. Far too much wrong with it for me to even begin breaking it down here, so I’ll just leave with this:

    You can want Ukraine to win, celebrate their victories, but dehumanizing soldiers in a war that you’re life and safety isn’t directly tied to, is bad for your own mental health and moral character.

    The only exception is if you’re Ukrainian. Not because it invalidates any of the underlying truths, but because dehumanizing your direct enemy can be a helpful psychological coping mechanism when you’re actually fighting a war, I get that.
