REVIEW - I've reviewed two mountain bike-style e-bikes for The Gadgeteer and liked them both: the TurboAnt Thunder T1 & the Heybike Brawn. I wanted to try
Batteries are heavy and this one has a big one. That said, my shitty Engwe EP-2 weighs 75 lbs, but as long as the drivetrain and tires are intact, I could pedal it home. On hills, it sucks, but otherwise it’s not all that bad really.
Sure as shit wouldn’t want to carry it though haha
For sure. I would guess the battery in this is around 15lbs, but 81lbs would be a nightmare to do a roadside repair on. Like, how easy is it to change a tire or tube on it? The manufacturer mentions “Integrated Tires, KENDA, Custom 20” X 4.0", but no mention of whether they are tubeless or not.
I also just realized that you can’t put panniers on this bike. The rear rack isn’t pannier friendly.
I honestly hate how bike manufacturers are designing low-versatility bikes these days, especially for a “cargo” e-bike.
Oh, doing roadside maintenance on such a heavy bike sucks! I hate it so much I got tannus armor to help avoid blown tubes. Should probably just convert to tubeless but I’m probably just going to get a different bike.
I wouldn’t exactly call that long range, especially if you plan to add more weight to it with pannier bags.
81lbs is a killer… this leaves you with no good options if you experience a mechanical issue or run out of battery while out on the trails.

As for the tires, I’d bet they’re just tubes.
