I don’t expect killers to let all survivors go, or meme around, or farm, but can we all at least just play the goddamn game?

There is no reason at all to camp and tunnel out two survivors at 4 gens then slug the last two in general, but when there’s five tiramisus? You’re not even getting many points for brutality or chasing if you have no gens to kick and players are just bleeding out on the ground ffs. If you just played competitively but normally you could likely still get a 4K, and/or get more points than playing the asshole way.

It is a game, yes, and that means you don’t owe the other side anything. Play the game, play to win.

But at the same time, it is a game. It doesn’t have to be THAT serious that it warrants you sweating so much so early.

And the people who do it because the fun of the game for them comes not from the challenge or objectives of the game but instead comes from doing whatever you can to be a dick to other people? I say this sincerely, that is really sad. You know most people don’t derive their main source of pleasure from hurting/harassing/annoying other people, right? Like, you know that is not a thing that people who are okay do?

And survivors also don’t need to go out of their way to be as rude as fucking possible, in and outside of events. Like, chill out for a second. Lots of killers are choosing to be casual in the early days of the event, you’re not necessarily actually outplaying them, and even if you were, your “achievement” doesn’t warrant endless teabagging, literally hundreds/thousands of other people are escaping this game every single day lmao, you’re not a superstar.

Just play the game. If you want to be chill about it and have fun celebrating the event then you do you, but it’s obviously okay not to. But can we at least just all just play the game we’re celebrating the anniversary of as it was intended to be played?

You fucking nailed it. I play both killer and survivor and while my anniversary matches have been pretty good, there have still been a concerning proportion of games with people being asshats.

Nothing sucks as bad as survivor as being tunneled or camped out of the game immediately, and I’ve seen so much of it lately. The Singularity has been the worst offender in my recent games, leaving their bodies at hook so they can tag people with biopods then wake up once the rescue starts.

As killer I’ve been seeing a bunch of bully squads, and just so so much teabagging and flashlight clicking. If I follow scratch marks from hook and find the person just unhooked instead of the rescuer I turn around and go check a gen or something, but then those same people will teabag you at the gate like you didnt just spare them. Makes the game feel bad when you’re playing friendly and they just treat you like the 35th sweaty Wesker or Blight in a row when you’re playing a casual build on a less powerful killer.

Hopefully those folks will dwindle as the event goes on, but if I hadn’t lucked into some really good fun and friendly matches in between I would probably have stopped playing the event already.

Yeah I’ve been lucky that I’m mostly seeing balanced or even just friendly matches, but the ones that aren’t are so above and beyond just regular overly sweaty playing and it’s honestly so cringey to me lol.

Some people are so determined to make others have a bad time that they’ll ruin their own points. And I know BPs can be pretty unimportant for a lot of players who don’t have a lot of characters they’re trying to level up or whatever, but still!

I tried to be a friendly Spirit yesterday and had everyone hooked once at five gens and then just ran around in haunting mode to collect some deviousness points. Made a point to hit healthy survivors then not chase them, downed a couple and let them wiggle out, etc. eventually stopped even kicking gens because they were having such a hard time getting them done and I was running oppression. Then those little fucks had the audacity to teabag at the gate and do the “ez” messages post game lmao. Some people are just sad.

As much as you want folks to play fairly you’re going to have to come to terms that some people find playing the game by making others miserable and move on.

It absolutely sucks but the last thing you should be doing is feeding into these folks. If you give no reaction they dont really thrive off the matches.

Are you suggesting I just keep all my rants and thoughts and opinions in my head? Is that even a thing?

It’s a strong skill to come to terms with it during the game itself; to shrug off the abuses, alt-tab to YouTube while you’re slugged, and move on.

BUT, and this is the point I think a lot of people miss, it doesn’t mean we have to accept it as the full norm for the game. It’s still possible for the developers to make core rule changes that make long-term slugging unviable, or deny facecamping. With some creativity and effort, they could even block survivors from waiting at the exit gate when it’s not necessary.

There are game communities where it could be possible to be a total dick to people, but it just doesn’t happen; or the whole community shuns those individuals using in-game “social vote” systems when it does happen. It’s dangerous to imply that it’s just not possible to change people’s behavior. Mostly, it’s a cyclical issue because people are often a product of their environment. Sometimes a killer that slugged you out only did it because it happened to them when they played survivor.

Yeah I honestly find it more confusingly exasperating than making me actually angry. I just roll my eyes and play Wordle on my phone or whatever until their done their bullshit and I never bother with post game chats/messages. When I know I have tacky survivors waiting for me at the gate I walk around break doors or run my power or whatever. Not going to give them the direct satisfaction and I don’t care whether or not I always get the 4K or always get the escape, like they’re great when they happen but it’s not ruining my fun if I don’t “win” every match so I’m not going to get desperate at the end.

But it is just all so god damned stupid. I feel genuine second-hand embarrassment for trolls of any kind lol.
