Question… why wasn’t this an unmanned, remotely controlled submarine with a front-mounted camera? If it had been destroyed, that would have been a lot of money up in smoke, but no lives lost.
Because the purpose was to see it in person. If they wanted to see footage of it they could do that from home but there’ s definitely something for seeing things with your own eyes.
I’m completely oboard with what they wanted to do since cameras never do a sight justice. They just did it in a really sketchy way. Of course I’m also cool with people doing sketchy things but it sure seems this was being done as a business thing with customers and without proofing it multiple times. And honestly this should’ve been just an ROV with passenger capsule and probably tethered.
