I am carefully making my way through a haunting forest of crushing darkness. Wolves snarl at me as twisted beings who were once human stumble about, their aggressive muttering filling my head with fear. My heart rate is elevated; I’m completely immersed in the dark fantasy of Alan Wake II. Then, suddenly, a friendly chime shatters the moment, and as a banner unfurls onscreen to tout some accomplishment of mine, all that fear the game is working so hard to establish evaporates. Oof. Steam allows you to disable the notifications, and they’re not really all that intrusive in the first place (little chime, and a pop-up in the lower right corner for about a second).

LoL, I disable those notification while I can for all platforms. It was interesting cause when I play Immortals of Aveum(bought on EGS) the ea client’s setting will block notification so I didn’t even get the achievement pop during my game play. I guess Alan Wake 2’s dev have to implement something for the time being.

Deleting the content of that overlay folder seems to have worked. Just don’t delete the folder itself or it complains about it missing.
