Anonymity is another.

Privacy is being secure in your files, your thoughts, your private and group conversations.

Anonymity gives you safety to share your findings. Whether that’s whistleblowing or ideas or results, having your real identity attached may be more risk than it’s worth. Why do we need both?

Since these are separate things, it makes sense for Anonymity to have its own sub.

People can’t understand that being in charge of your body and your mind is essential, it’s fucked up. Big Tech will do what it wants for still some time to come.

Isn’t it counterproductive to split a niche forum into smaller parts for growth and hence success of it?

It was created more for specialization than to split the community. As others have pointed out, anonymity is a particular kind of privacy. There’s no exclusivity. You can be in both.

Though it’s hard to know the effect of another sub, Privacy is one of the largest subs here so seems one of the most likely to be able to survive an offshoot.

You make a great point about anonymity. And something I didnt really think about. We should be concious about whether to use anonymity or privacy.

Im not sure whether it’s a good idea to create a community for anonymity alone, because that would divide the community. However perhaps creating a community that encapsulates both. With a name that reflects this and encourages members to be concious about this distinction.
