Joseph Stalin banned all other art styles other than something called Socialist Realism. Most of the propaganda posters you find from the USSR are drawn in that style. Tbh it’s a cool art style.
Remember, every poster was drawn by someone who wanted to present an image. Not necessarily of reality but of what they want you to see. Young men standing at attention, at the age of 18.
My dad brought some items home from former Soviet countries. He brought a poster and a KGB border patrol hat. The poster has a bunch of really good looking people on it and glorious events at the Union’s highest moments.
The Border patrol hat though, fine looking as it was, was very small where the wearer couldn’t have been more than 12 or 13.
