I’m confused - why are they now attacking Lebanon? I thought their beef was with Hamas.
Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel from Lebanon.
Hezbollah (in Lebanon) has been firing rockets into the Golan Heights, which is technically still Syrian territory according to the UN, but Israel invaded in 1967 and declared theirs in 1981.
Why did they invade…? I know the answer, but I’m concerned that either you don’t, or worse, you do, and are intentionally leaving it out.
I honestly am baffled about how everyone who recounts the history of the Israel’s regional conflicts always magically removes the role played by Arabs, and the Arab states.
Border skirmishes with Hezbollah fighters, mostly sparatic artillery/rockets at the moment. In general it’s not really that unusual for this specific part of the border, but the overall tensions and fluidity do add a much higher escalatory risk than normal.
This is one of the stated rationales for the deployment of the US carrier strike groups, specifically to deter Iran and it’s proxy, Hezbollah, for opening a second front.
