First off, this is immediately and by far my favourite instance. Thank you so much for creating it!
I’m still new to the “fediverse” in general, but with the current flood of newbies stumbling into every corner of it, I’m wondering if, for Mander, it might be a good idea to restrict creation of new communities to just the admin/s.
Mander’s theme and tone are so unique, and I’d hate to see that diluted and buried. I’m just starting to see new local communities pop up that have nothing to do with nature or any type of science.
Just a thought of course. What you have here is fully worth protecting :)
I agree with the sentiment. I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of off-topic communities while browsing Local, so far I’ve counted two and one feels like advertising tbh. Fortunately I don’t feel it dilutes the rest as the post volume seems low, for now.
If something looks like an advertisement, I would appreciate it if you could report it. I usually assume good faith - and I am ok with an actual user advertising their own content, projects, or even products. But when a user is created purely to post an ad, I do remove that.
I don’t know if this user was created purely to post an ad, but the community was, and wasn’t anything science or nature and the products advertised were not even made by themselves. It’s in your hands now
