About 8 years ago I got into cycling and really enjoyed riding, but I ended up moving countries and ended up gradually stopping cycling. Since then I’ve worked an office job and been pretty much a couch potato.

I’m wanting to get into cycling, but find I can’t really stick to it on my own, I am wondering if anyone knows of online communities or groups for people who are unfit but are trying to get into cycling?

In my neck of the woods, stuff like this is either organized by local bike shops, or by community members on FB or Instagram.

One bike shop is focused mostly on road bikes, so they do road rides. Another is more MTB-oriented, so they organize trips the the nearest mountain. We also have a little community group of just fun & chill weekly rides.

I’d suggest having a peep around social media, maybe check your local shops’ pages, for a start. If that fails, find someone friendly at the bike shop (although this time of year, shop employees are sometimes too busy for friendliness haha).

EDIT: I completely misread your post, I think. I’ll leave my original comment up, because it might be useful info for someone, but I’ll try to answer the question you actually asked!

Personally, what motivates me to go for a ride when I’m feeling lazy is watching cycling videos on YouTube! My favourites are Terry Barentsen’s, but I also follow a few touring and mountain biking channels.
