We will see what kind of influx we get. Gotta land somewhere right? Who just arrived from Reddit?

I just arrived from Reddit, still figuring lemmy out, but seems to have lots of potential here.

Yeah, seems like some hybrid of old reddit, hackernews, and email (in the federated interoperability sense). Hell, it actually reminds me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FidoNet – which was super cool in its time.

I need to do myself some research as I think lemmy may be my first experience with a federated space, so I’ve yet to understand the different instances, etc. But I do like the feel.

I arrived from Reddit! I spent a lot of time on the Winnipeg subreddit and so I did a search on here for Winnipeg. I hope other people manage to find this place so we can get it going again. It was so good for staying up to date on what’s going on in the community.

I hope you stick around. The 90:9:1 rule is on display here quite strongly, pending critical mass. 90% lurk, 9% interact, 1% posts content. Sadly, social media platforms die if that gets unbalanced too much on the top end :)

Right now the best thing we can do it make it feel active here. So people don’t arrive and then leave. If the community is just my own personal soapbox, it won’t work haha :)

Glad to see it. I’m done with reddit as soon as my 3rd party app stops working so I hope we get some staying power around here.

I was too slow. It’s already dark. Anyone got a following on another network?
