    There is a clause in the pact for red meat producers - including sheep and beef - to review the arrangement after five years

    There it is… its almost like the government understands the issue from both sides and then the geopolitical necessity of the deal’s haste, while the farmers, yet again, only care about what they get their jealous little fingers on.

    I know #notallfarmers, but too many jump to the most dire language everytime the red carpet isn’t rolled out for them.

    The article does not explain why “at least 50,000 tonnes of beef are required to be in line with EU competitors, instead of the 30,600 on offer” but I for one, am happy there is less demand for beef. The whole world should be transitioning away from so much meat consumption for climate and ecological reasons (and animal welfare).

      I assume they’re talking about growth hormones when they say “in line”. That’s a big sticking point with the European market.

        we do it with US Beef, it cant be packaged in with beef from Mexico for biosecurity reasons.

        It’s why Trump bangs on about Australia restricting US Beef imports.
