10 hours agoI went with Linux Mint Debian Edition. Couple hiccups over the last 18 months but queries in the Mint help forum fixed those problems. I use Flatpacs when I can.
I have zero idea what I’m doing :)

1·11 hours agoThe problem is in places like Tasmania when the elec goes out. We lost power at the end of winter last year for 6 days becase storms took out many power lines. We used our little camper van and ran an extension cord for the fridge and a couple lights and USB charging in the house . A back 2 burner portable gas stove for cooking and we fired up the wood fireplace for heating, usually run heat pumps.
Would have been horrific not to have the wood stove as a heating backup but we were fine becase we had it. Mny people lost power for much longer.
Similar thing after the NZ Christchurch earthquake.
If peoplw only used them for emergency backup wed be fine bit alas… Same reaosn arseholes keep flying, driving and voting ALP/LNP no matter the consequences.
As to toxic pollution, we kill 11,000 people a year from transport emisisons (30 a day) and don’t seem to care ?

Unlikely, if they were actual Christian views ie see christ’s sermon on the mount, aligns with lots of Greens policy.
If you mean typical christofascists views, that will be why.
If that was the case, apply Poppers views on this to understand why and good riddance.

181·22 hours agoI am poor and chose the latter. Own a small cheap cottage on the edge of a tiny rural village at the arse end of Australia (Tasmania) live simply and have a like minded parter. I quit work at 35 and am now 59, don’t get any goverment pensions etc have a small investment portfolio of shares i purchased back in the 1990s from working and live off the dividends.
I don’t want to be rich, as to even try to do so I’d have to compromise all of my morals to get there. I’m rich enough. I quit paid work as it wasnt for me. My only regret in life was not quitting work earlier, thats time I cant get back.

10·23 hours agoPerhaos you don’t understand how the law works, she’s a republican and thus currently immune.
The solution to this is societal collapse and time.(1000+ years after) We can’t adapt our current civilisation quickly enough to survive this, we refuse to adapt to using lower emsisions (only thing left is radical change as we’ve run out of time) so there are no other outcomes left.
Collapse is already happening and we fiddle while the planet burns. We are all Nero now.

Have a Gaint 29er dual susoension MTB. It sees duty as a gravel bike and MTB and road bike in that order. 60km trip and I ran out of power taking it as easy as I could to go the diatance a few km from home. Unbekown to me you can’t just pedal it when it runs out, it feel like the motors have the magents engaged and its nearly impossible to pedal :( it freewheels fine though
I rode 15km to my MTB trials on occasion, ride the trails and ride home , ride (40km return) via firetrails to a lake for breakfast and 30km rail trial ride to town one way (which is why I ran out as i tired it return one day) and adventure rides exploring firetrials are 50km loops through the forest. A staid road loop on asphalt is 25km but the river views are special.
